Shop 'n Save

Shop 'N Save traces its roots to the Charley family, whose patriarch Mike Charley emigrated from Syria in 1901 and began selling produce door to door before building a food distribution business with his sons. In the early 1960s, the family launched the Shop 'N Save banner to help locally owned stores band together for better purchasing and a better shopping experience, joining forces with SuperValu in 1977 to expand the network. Today, Shop 'N Save operates as a network of approximately 70 independently owned and operated discount supermarkets, primarily in Western Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Ohio, and West Virginia, supplied and licensed through UNFI. The Charley family remains active as a licensee to this day, with fourth-generation family members operating multiple store locations.
