About Redner's
Redner's Markets was founded in March 1970 by Mary and Earl Redner, who combined Mary's savings and Earl's pension money to purchase two small supermarkets near Reading, Pennsylvania. In 1975, Redner's introduced Pennsylvania's first supermarket Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), distributing shares to employees — making it the first supermarket chain in the state to be employee-owned. The company introduced its Warehouse Market format in 1987, a larger, cost-efficient model focused on bulk sales and low prices that tripled business volume by 1990. Today, Redner's is headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania and operates approximately 44 Warehouse Market locations and 7 Fresh Markets across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, along with roughly 24 Quick Shoppe convenience stores. The company remains wholly owned by present and past employees and members of the Redner family.
