About Price Rite
Price Rite Marketplace opened its first store in 1995 under the name Price Rite Supermarkets in West Springfield, Massachusetts, created by Wakefern Food Corporation as a no-frills, limited-assortment discount banner to compete with chains like Aldi and Save-A-Lot. Similar to those competitors, Price Rite offers drastically fewer SKUs than its sibling ShopRite stores, averaging around 35,000 square feet and concentrating on value-oriented merchandise. The banner was rebranded as Price Rite Marketplace in 2017 to reflect store upgrades and an expanded fresh produce and organic selection. Today it operates 53 stores across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, owned and operated by Wakefern directly or by individual Wakefern member companies.
