Karns Foods

Karns Foods was founded in 1959 by David Karns, who opened the first store welcoming customers as individuals with individual needs. The company began as a butcher shop in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, but evolved into a full-service supermarket with a strong emphasis on perishable items. The chain has remained entirely family-owned across three generations. David Karns stepped down as CEO in 1989 in favor of his son Scott, and in May 2024 the third generation took the helm with Andrea Karns becoming CEO. Karns operates ten stores in central Pennsylvania, with locations in Paxtonia, Lemoyne, Mechanicsburg, Boiling Springs, New Bloomfield, Middletown, Carlisle, Yocumtown, and Hershey, all within the Harrisburg metropolitan area.
