Gerrity's

Gerrity's traces back to 1895, when William Gerrity opened a small meat shop called Gerrity's Market in the Bellevue section of West Scranton, Pennsylvania. The business passed through two generations of the Gerrity family before Neal Fasula — who had started at the company as a delivery boy in 1964 — eventually became a partner and took over operations. The first full-service Gerrity's Supermarket opened in 1980 on South Main Avenue in West Scranton. Neal passed away in 1997, and his wife Joyce Fasula, now widely known as "Mom," became president and CEO, running the chain alongside her son Joseph. In August 2022, Gerrity's joined Wakefern Food Corporation's cooperative under The Fresh Grocer banner, operating today as Gerrity's The Fresh Grocer with 10 locations across Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Northampton Counties in northeastern Pennsylvania.
