Bermeo Group

Bermeo Group is a small, family-owned grocery operator based in Rockland County, New York, founded by Wilson Bermeo, who immigrated to the United States from Ecuador in 1995 and started out in the food business by selling produce out of his minivan, going house to house throughout Spring Valley to build a customer base. After two years, the business grew enough to purchase a truck, and eventually his first supermarket in Spring Valley, which he named Huerto del Eden — Spanish for "Garden of Eden." The company has since expanded to three Key Food-affiliated stores in the Lower Hudson Valley: Huerto del Eden and Spring Valley Supermarket (formerly Compare Foods) in Spring Valley, and the Nyack Fresh Market in Nyack, which opened in February 2023. The stores specialize in Latin American groceries alongside mainstream staples, reflecting the diverse communities they serve
